National Hellenic Society opens applications for summer 2026 heritage Greece programs

Greek-American and Canadian college students invited to an immersive two-week journey into Hellenic history, culture, and identity

Newsroom January 30 11:40

The National Hellenic Society (NHS) has opened applications for all Summer 2026 Heritage Greece® Programs, offering Greek-American and Canadian college students a unique, two-week immersive experience in Greece. Participants can choose from three program options—Athens in June or July (ACG or CYA) or Thessaloniki (ACT)—though students may only attend one program. Each program blends Greek language lessons, cultural workshops, historic site visits, and meaningful interactions with Greek peers.

The NHS covers tuition, housing, meals, transportation within Greece, and all program costs, leaving students responsible only for airfare and personal expenses. Detailed program dates, application deadlines, and sample itineraries for all three programs are available on the NHS website.

This year, NHS will sponsor 100 students, providing an opportunity to explore their Greek heritage. More than 900 alumni have participated in previous programs, many describing the experience as transformative for both personal and professional growth.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants for all programs must meet the following requirements:

  • Age: 18–26 years old
  • Enrollment: Undergraduate or graduate student with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Citizenship: U.S. or Canadian citizen of Hellenic descent*
  • Travel Experience: Preferably (but not required) visiting Greece for the first time
