The Ministry of Social Insurance and Public Debt Management gave an ultimatum to Reserve Fund managers today, through an emergency session: “Make a decision on the amount of money you can transfer to the Bank of Greece until Friday”.
The Ministry’s officials described the virtually asphyxiating situation which the lack of liquidity has caused, in view of the deposition of May pensions due on April 30th.
They told Fund managers to call emergency board meetings and convince their members on the necessity of the funds’ transference.
Minister Stratoulis held a neutral stance on the matter, whereas IKA pension fund manager R. Spyropoulos supported the necessity of available funds transference to the BoG.
