A 33-year-old man noticed the metal spikes placed on the sidewalks outside of luxury homes, where many homeless usually sleep in Southwack, in central London. He immediately photographed the spikes and uploaded the photos on social media.
The images triggered the anger and outrage of Internet users and the mayor of London, Boris Johnson, uploaded a comment on Twitter, where he asked for the immediate removal of the spikes and described the spikes outside houses to prevent homeless sleeping as “ugly, self defeating & stupid”.

But Johnson’s followers on Twitter told him that he should have done something for the homeless in London and accused him of not taking the responsibility for the causes of the problem.
It should be noted that the mayor of London reacted on the spikes placed on the sidewalks, only when an online poll for the problem was conducted on change.org and over 6,000 users signed to help the homeless.
Katherine Sacks Jones, head of the Crisis charity organization, which deals with the homeless, condemned the placement of metal spikes on the sidewalks of London and stressed that we should deal with the main cause of the problem. She said that only the last three years the number of homeless people in London has risen to 75%!
