The South Korean Coast Guard continues the operation in order to find 287 people who are still missing after the Sewol cruise ship sank on the southern coast of South Korea carrying 459 passengers and crew and 150 vehicles.
However , according to the latest reports the work of rescuers is extremely difficult as the strong sea currents do not allow them to access the shipwreck.
Rescuers were searching the area all night, but the currents and low underwater visibility prevented them to enter inside the sunken ship and inspect tens cabins. “They failed to enter the cabins”, said a spokesman of the coastguard.
The families of the missing children are gathered at the dock of the coastal town Jiddu, but their hopes are getting slender as time passes. So far, 179 people have been rescued while 9 people are confirmed dead.
