Passenger traffic at Athens airports showed a 24.2% rise to 4.4 million passengers in the first four months of 2014 according to official figures released on Monday.

Local traffic on domestic flights increased by 30.5% while international traffic was 20.7% higher compared to the same period last year. Greek travelers increased by 21% while foreign travelers increased by 28% in the January-April period.

Passenger traffic in April was at 1.46 million (+21.1% from April 2014) of which international passengers were at 948,914 (+22.8%) and domestic passengers rose by 18 %. In April, domestic passengers rose by 16% and foreign passengers by 25%.

Flights grew by 17.6% in April (10.7% domestic and 23.3% international). Over the four-month period they grew by 17.2% (13.7% domestic and 20% international).
