“When the cherry trees of Pella blossom 2026”, a great celebration of taste and tradition

The actions will take place on Saturday (4/4) and Sunday (19/4) - Participation is free of charge and no registration is required

Newsroom April 2 03:52

The Regional Unit of Pella, as part of its efforts to showcase the area’s natural beauty and rich gastronomic identity, invites you to two special spring events in the wider Edessa region, celebrating the blooming cherry trees and the unique landscape of Pella.

On Saturday, April 4 at 10:00, in the lush green park of Edessa, surrounded by vibrant spring colors and blossoming cherry trees, a festive celebration of taste and tradition will take place.

From early in the morning, renowned local chefs will prepare both creative and traditional dishes, all featuring cherries as the star ingredient, highlighting the exceptional quality and flavor of this local “red gold.”

Visitors will have the opportunity to watch the cooking process live and enjoy a variety of delicious sweet and savory creations inspired by Pella’s prized cherries.

At the same time, guests can stroll through the blooming cherry orchards along a scenic route leading to the base of Edessa’s impressive waterfalls, taking in the breathtaking beauty of spring.

The event will also feature traditional dance groups from the wider region, presenting Macedonian music and dances, creating a vibrant atmosphere of culture and celebration. A photo exhibition dedicated to cherry blossoms will also be on display.

On Sunday, April 19 at 10:00, a second event focused on nature and well-being will take place at the chapel of Agios Georgios in Vryta. This experience includes a relaxing hike through the cherry blossoms in the Agra–Vryta–Nissi wetland area, near Swan Lake—an enchanting natural habitat home to swans and rare migratory bird species.

The route is easy and suitable for all ages, offering participants the chance to fully enjoy the stunning sight of cherry trees in full bloom.

The event will also be honored by the presence of Mr. Takaaki Nemoto, Counsellor and Deputy Head of the Embassy of Japan.

Following the hike, visitors can enjoy:

  • A photo exhibition titled “The Flowering Cherry Trees of Pella”
  • A music event with a DJ and spring-inspired songs
  • Cherry pies and creative culinary offerings based on cherries

All activities are organized in collaboration with local associations, institutions, and volunteers, with the aim of promoting Pella’s natural beauty, cultural heritage, and culinary traditions.
