In early 1976, in California, Steve Wozniak had just finished designing a motherboard, or computer board, which he planned to show off to other hobbyists at a well-known local club. His friend, Steve Jobs, immediately spotted a business opportunity to manufacture and sell these boards. Thus, Apple was born.
On Wednesday, 1 April, the company turned 50 years old. Its journey has had a profound impact on both the technology industry and the everyday lives of consumers, first bringing personal computers and then “smart” phones to the general public, establishing apps, and demonstrating how devices and software can work in harmony. However, today it faces a new challenge to prove that it can remain a leader as well as a technological superpower in the age of artificial intelligence.
