Qatar is in constant communication with all involved parties, including the United States, ahead of the conversations in Islamabad, according to Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari, who reiterated Doha’s support for diplomatic efforts for a political solution.
In a briefing to reporters, the Qatari foreign ministry spokesman stressed that “We do not wish to talk about the failure of the negotiations [between the US and Iran],” adding that the international community supports the continuation of the dialogue. “The whole world supports these negotiations, including us. We also support our brothers in Pakistan,” he noted.
He stressed that the Gulf countries are maintaining daily communication with the parties involved as the crisis directly affects the region. “The crisis is ours, it is a crisis of our region. That is why we have direct contacts,” he said.
Referring to the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, he noted that dealing with the crisis is not the responsibility of just one country but of the international community as a whole. He stressed that the prolonged disruption of the Straits is turning a regional crisis into an issue of global importance, noting the impact even on the daily lives of citizens, such as the cost of heating and electricity.
Majed al-Ansari reiterated that Qatar considers mediation an effective means of reaching a political solution, noting that Doha will continue to support Pakistan’s role as a mediator. He noted that the Gulf countries have maintained close relations with Pakistan over time, which enhances cooperation at the regional level.
“Qatar has proved over time that it is a reliable partner. We will continue talks with our partners to find a solution,” he concluded, noting that cooperation between the countries of the region remains active and is evolving.
At the same time, he stressed that Qatar supports Lebanon’s unity and sovereignty and condemns all Israeli violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty and attacks against its people.
