Captured! Savopoulos family murder suspect apprehended (video)

The quadruple murder suspect is a former employee of the company headed by Savvas Savopoulos

Newsroom May 22 07:28

Daron Dylon Wint, 34, a former employee of American Iron Works was apprehended by the police after a manhunt that extended along much of the Eastern US seaboard.

Wint is the primary suspect in the gruesome murders of three members of a Northwest Washington Greek-American family and their housemaid.

Court records show he has had a history of assaults and threatening behavior. Now, he is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Savopoulos, his wife, Amy, 47, their son Philip, 10, and a housekeeper, 57.

Wint was linked to the crime through DNA recovered from a leftover crust from a pizza that was delivered to the house on the night he reportedly held the family captive. Authorities believe he killed the four the next day.

Police are still probing the motive behind the killings. On May 14, a company employee delivered a package with $40K to the multi-million dollar Savopoulos mansion, hours before it was torched. Police have also cited a series of phone calls involving Savopoulos, his assistant, a bank and the accounting department hours before the fire.
