In an effort to strengthen the island’s healthcare services and meet the needs of the Multipurpose Regional Medical Clinic, the Municipality of Sifnos is offering a range of incentives to doctors who choose to move to and work on the island.
Mayor Maria Nadalē of Sifnos, speaking on MEGA TV, outlined the measures taken to attract medical professionals during a period when many islands are facing serious shortages of healthcare staff.
Among the benefits offered by the municipality are free housing, a monthly allowance of 300 euros, as well as two free round-trip ferry tickets per month to the port serving the doctors’ permanent residence.
In addition, coverage is provided for basic utility costs such as electricity, water, and sewage, while a personal parking space is also offered in cases where the residence is located in a densely populated settlement.
The call for applications concerns three positions at the Sifnos Multipurpose Regional Medical Clinic: one General or Family Medicine physician or Internal Medicine specialist at Director level, one additional General or Family Medicine physician or Internal Medicine specialist, and one pediatrician at Director level.
The deadline for applications is tomorrow, Wednesday, June 17. The mayor expressed hope that doctors will be found, stating: “There is interest.”
