New Democracy has strengthened its lead in the latest Metron Analysis poll, presented on Mega TV’s main evening newscast, rising by 1.9 percentage points to 30.4% in the vote projection.

The ruling party now holds a 13.3-point lead over Alexis Tsipras’s ELAS party, which also gains 1.9 points to reach 17.1%. ELAS has widened its lead over PASOK to 5.7 points, up from four points in the previous poll, despite PASOK recording a marginal increase of 0.2 points to 11.4%.

Maria Karystianou’s Elpida party falls to fourth place, dropping by 2.9 points from 10.4% in June to 7.5%. The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) records a slight rise of 0.4 points to 6.2%, while Greek Solution slips marginally from 6% to 5.7%.

Course of Freedom posts a sharper decline of 1.2 points, while its leader, Zoe Konstantopoulou, has lost nine points in popularity since February. According to the poll, both Voice of Reason, at 3.8%, and MeRA25, at 3.1%, would enter Parliament. SYRIZA, at 1.4%, Niki, at 1.2%, and Stefanos Kasselakis’s party, at 1%, remain below the parliamentary threshold.

Among undecided voters, who account for 9.3% of the sample, 18% had voted for New Democracy in the 2023 elections, 8% for SYRIZA, 4% for the KKE, and 13% for another party. The majority, 58%, either did not vote, cast an invalid or blank ballot, or did not state a preference.

Mitsotakis leads on suitability for prime minister

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis leads Alexis Tsipras by 14 points on the question of suitability for the prime minister’s office, receiving 29% compared with 14% for the former prime minister. PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis comes third with 5%, followed by the remaining political leaders on lower percentages.

Mitsotakis is also the most popular political leader in the Metron Analysis poll, with 36%, having gained six points since February. Maria Karystianou is in second place, despite losing five points in a month. She is followed by Zoe Konstantopoulou and KKE leader Dimitris Koutsoubas, while Alexis Tsipras stands at 31%, up two points from June.

Positive views of the government have risen by three points, from 25% to 28%, while Mitsotakis also gains one point, from 30% to 31%. By contrast, both PASOK and Androulakis lose one point, with negative ratings exceeding 80%.

Where Tsipras and Karystianou draw support

Nearly two out of three Elpida voters had either supported very small parties in 2023, abstained, or cast invalid or blank ballots. A further 21% had voted for New Democracy, 6% for SYRIZA, 6% for PASOK, 5% for Greek Solution, and 4% for the KKE.

Among those now backing Tsipras’s ELAS party, 54% had voted for SYRIZA in 2023, 6% for the KKE, 6% for PASOK, and 5% for New Democracy. Nearly one in three had either supported very small parties or not voted at all.
