Residents of Iceland and much of Spain, along with the many tourists who had flocked to both countries, had the chance to witness today’s total solar eclipse.

Watch the solar eclipse live online: Iceland and Spain will experience it in its entirety

In Iceland, the phenomenon was visible at around 100% at 20:45 (Greek time), while in Spain it peaked at around 21:30 Greek time (20:30 local time).

In Greece, the eclipse was barely visible, appearing only as a partial eclipse in parts of the north-west of the country, such as Corfu (2.34% coverage), Igoumenitsa (1.29%), Konitsa, Kastoria and Florina. As the sun’s disc was obscured almost simultaneously with sunset (around 20:30), the effect was very slight and difficult to perceive.

NASA, the European ESA, and major news agencies and media outlets broadcast the phenomenon live.
