Kyriakos Mitsotakis referred in a post to the start of payments of the new, increased survivors’ pensions, recalling the legislative provision for the permanent abolition of the cuts introduced under the Katrougalos law.

As the Prime Minister points out, the process will have been completed by Friday, with 8,500 beneficiaries seeing a significant increase in their pensions, in some cases even returning to the levels that applied before the cuts.

“On July 3, I announced the legislative provision for the permanent abolition of the Katrοugkalos cuts to survivors’ pensions. Starting today and through Friday, payment of the new pensions will have been completed.

A total of 8,500 beneficiaries will see their pensions increase significantly, in some cases up to the levels they were at before the cuts they suffered.

In addition, approximately 75,000 pensioners will not have to repay a single euro in retroactive amounts. Meanwhile, the pensions of 122,000 pensioners who receive two national pensions will remain unchanged.

A problem, therefore, that affected thousands of families is now being resolved permanently, correcting a major social injustice. We said it, we did it!”
