The president of the Panhellenic Federation of Public Hospital Workers (POEDIN), Michalis Giannakos, is calling for immediate measures to protect three minor children who have been staying at Preveza Hospital since Tuesday under a prosecutorial order.

According to Giannakos, the children are two boys, aged 13 and 7, and an 8-year-old girl from the Municipality of Ziros. They were taken to the hospital following allegations of neglect and malnutrition.

Giannakos said the complaint was filed by relatives against the children’s father.

“The mother left the home,” the POEDIN president said, raising concerns about the children’s safety. He claimed that there is no police presence at the hospital, while, according to him, the father is in and around the medical facility.

“If he abducts them, who will be responsible?” he asked, stressing that hospital staff cannot take on the role of providing security.
