Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis held talks with Canadian Prime Minister in New York on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

The two leaders discussed bilateral relations and wider European issues.

Their talks focused in particular on closer cooperation between Canada and the European Union in areas of shared priority, including artificial intelligence, space and energy.

They also discussed Greece’s presidency of the Council of the European Union, which the country will hold in the second half of 2027, its first since 2014.

Carney, a former governor of both the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England, has led Canada since March 2025.
