Raging yesterday’s opened controversy between government, justice and the Opposition, on the occasion of transmitting the case documents of Scaramanga Shipyard, which arrived in parliament with the possibility of criminal liability for Evangelos Venizelos and George Papaconstantinou.
In the transmitting document to the Greek Parliament is stated that “… from the preliminary examination that was conducted, is resulting to evidence of possible criminal responsibility of ministers and government members, specifically Mr. Evangelos Venizelos, former Minister of Defense and Mr. George Papakonstantinou, former minister of Finance, for the period starting the 17.10.2010 and onwards ”
The Greek Supreme Court has characterized the wording of the document ‘bad’, as the expression for the inquiry are, should have been removed simply for the fact that it never took place anyway.
Moreover, it has been stressed that prosecutors have no right to conduct any research, if first they haven’t found any political engaging. Only then ,they should take the case document directly to the Greek Parliament.
The Greek Socialist party PASOK have commented that the immediate reaction of the Supreme Court was necessary, because the inconsistent and unfortunate wording of the original case document, allowed to the Greek Left Party SYRIZA to seek and build false impressions of petty character.
On the other hand, alongside these developments the Greek Left Party SYRIZA, regarding the case file for Shipyards, argues that it is within their rights to submit a request to convene an emergency session and proposal for a preliminary investigation for Mr.. Venizelos and Mr. Papakonstantinou.
