Giroud 17′, a thumping header from the Arsenal forward on his return to the French team gives his team the lead.
It was an outswinging corner from the right and it looked like Switzerland had no idea who was marking him. Still, take nothing away from the header, which was excellent, and Benaglio got a touch but couldn’t stop it from flying into the top corner.
Matuidi 18′, Behrami gives the ball away to Benzema. The Real Madrid striker slid in a pass to Matuidi, who took his left-foot shot from a tight angle early and squeezed it in at Benaglio’s near post.
Valbuena 40′,Giroud was set free down the left, and his low cross came all the way through to Valbuena at the far post, who gratefully tapped in.

Benzema 67′, another defensive error, this time from Senderos, and Benzema pounces to score his third goal in the tournament.
Pogba clipped a lovely ball into the box towards the Real Madrid forward, but Senderos totally missed his kick and a grateful Benzema slotted past Benaglio.

Sissoko 72′,Evra should have scored just before that, but Sissoko does. A superb finish into the far corner, much like Carlos Alberto’s famous goal for Brazil all those years ago.
