Euro Working Group: Funding process unaffected by Greek snap election

The elections were an expected move says Euro Working Group Pres.

Newsroom August 21 10:19

Commenting on the announcement of snap elections on September 20 by Greek PM Alexis Tsipras on Thursday night, Euro Working Group President Thomas Wiezer told Reuters that the this would in no way affect the flow of disbursements to Greece in the framework of the 3rd rescue plan. The Austrian politician said the move by Tsipras was something expected and ‘for many desirable in order for there to be a cleaner structure in the Greek government. He added that a meeting was scheduled in October for talks on a reduction of the Greek debt, hopefully for better progress in the program’.
