The head of the Eurogroup, Jeroen Dijsselbloem said the snap elections called by Greek PM Alexis Tsipras did not violate the terms of the recent agreement between the cash-strapped country and its EU partners.
Arriving at the Dutch Government cabinet he underlined his conviction that Greece would adhere to the terms stipulated in the deal. “Holding elections is allowed”, he stressed, adding that the sooner the process was over the better ‘in order to minimize the time lost’. Dijsselbloem made it clear that he was not informed about Tsipras’s plan to announce snap elections.
