Antiracism bill is defiantly a major step according to the American Jewish Committee

The Executive Director of AJC, David Harris claims that “the nation is in danger of extremists who promote untruthfulness and irrational fables, hand in hand with intimidation and exercise of violence”

In todays statement the American Jewish Committee (AJC) endorsed the adoption of the anti-racism bill of the Greek Parliament, and welcomed the adoption of the new law to combat racism and punishment for the denial of the Holocaust by the Greek government.
The Executive Director of AJC David Harris, claimed that “this legislation is an important step to strengthen the Greek community,” while added that ” the nation is in danger of extremists who promote untruthfulness and irrational fables, hand in hand with intimidation and exercise of violence”.
Mr. Haris emphasized, inter alia, that the bill was an initiative of the Greek Prime Minister Mr. Antonis Samaras by improving a 1979 law and that the bill was under discussion for more than a year, while giving details of the penalties and fines regarding “incitement of acts of discrimination, hatred or violence.”

Furthermore, the announcement mentioned that a year ago, the Greek Prime Minister addressed to the members of the AJC in New York, “he spoke with passion” for the need to use advanced legal tools in order to combat the scourge of racism in his country.
