Biden: The U.S. recognizes the Republic of Cyprus, and that alone

He stated that all the countries of the world believe it, except for one

With a clear statement in support of the Republic of Cyprus, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden began his official visit to the island of Cyprus.

He made it clear in his statement that the U.S. recognizes only the Republic of Cyprus, which they consider a strategic partner.

He also noted that he is visiting the island at the invitation of the Cypriot President to discuss bilateral issues, the Cyprus issue, the situation in the Ukraine and the energy outlook of rht region around the island.

Mr. Biden stated that he brings no ready solution to the Cyprus problem, but the aim is to encourage both communities to move forward and rely on the ever-present prospects of peace.

Cyprus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Ioannis Kasoulidis received the U.S. vice president onto the island. This is the second visit by a VP on the island after Lyndon Johnson’s visit 52 years ago.
