Bomb explosion in Crete high school

Police investigations under way

A loud blast at a local senior high school ground woke up resident, Saturday night in Crete. according to police sources, the perpetrators had placed an improvised explosive device under the metallic stairs of the senior high school of Pompia in Heraklion, Crete. The huge explosion resulted in the destruction of a part of the high school wall, while glass shards were catapulted up to 40 meters away due to the blast wave. Police cordoned off the area around school and found some sledgehammers and other bomb making materials after an investigation. The findings, which included residue from the explosive device, were taken to the police labs for examination. The school is scheduled to operate Monday, despite the damage caused from the explosion. No injuries were reported. Police are investigating the incident to detect the perpetrators.
