British expats want their heating fuel payments

The British expats are set to lose their winter fuel payments in countries where the climates are deemed too warm

The British Government has decided that this would be the last winter in which payments would be made to Britons in countries like Greece, France, Gibraltar, Malta, Portugal and Cyprus. Payments between 200-300 pounds per year will be cut as countries where the expats have chosen to live are deemed too warm. As a result, thousands of British expats living in Europe are urging the British government to give them their winter fuel payments in the future.

Expats are claiming that the weather is not as warm as the British Government seems to think and many are sending pictures of their snow-clad homes to prove their point, hoping that the government would revoke the decision. Cold snaps in Cyprus and Greece this month have caused expats’ concern regarding the cuts to their payments.
