An autopsy was ordered by the Central Port Authority of Chania

A British tourist lost her life at sea during her vacation in Crete, as her body was found on a beach on the island.

The 74-year-old woman, believed to be from Wales, was found unconscious on Wednesday at Almyrida beach in Chania.

Paramedics performed CPR on the woman for 30 minutes, but she was unresponsive, before being rushed to the General Hospital of Chania “St. Georgios”, where her death was confirmed.

An autopsy was ordered by the Central Port Authority of Chania, which is conducting the preliminary investigation.
