China’s new investment record in Europe

18 billion USD across Europe, for 2014

Chinese investments in the EU, which were reduced in 2013, marked a meteoric rise, more than doubling in 2014, to reach a new record 18 billion USD worth of investments.

British is the largest recipient of said investments according to Baker&McKenzie law offices, a fact which shows the rising interest of Chinese investors on agriculture and real-estate.

In 2014, Chinese companies and investors carried out a total of 153 billions’ worth of investments. The same numbers in 2013 rose only up to 8.6 billion, and 12 billion in 2012.

Britain was the “favorite destination” of such investments, with a total of 5.1 billion USD. Italy follows second at 3.5 bn, Holland at 2.3 bn, Portugal at 2 bn and Germany at 1.6 bn.
