Coronavirus Greece: 43,386 new cases, 628 intubated, 62 deaths

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,787 patients have been discharged from the ICU

Greece announced that the new laboratory-confirmed cases of the disease recorded in the last 24 hours are 43,386, of which 69 were identified after checks at the country’s gates. The total number of cases is 1,388,309 (daily change + 3.2%), of which 50.1% are men. Based on the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 326 are considered to be related to travel from abroad and 1,398 are related to an already known case. 

The new deaths of patients with COVID-19 are 62, while since the beginning of the epidemic a total of 21,115 deaths have been recorded. 95.1% had underlying disease and / or age 70 years and older.

The number of patients treated by intubation is 628 (58.4% men). Their median age is 64 years. 79.9% have underlying disease and / or age 70 years and older.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,787 patients have been discharged from the ICU.

The admissions of new Covid-19 patients to the hospitals of the country are 641 (daily change + 41.81%). The median age of cases is 36 years (range 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of death is 78 years (range 0.2 to 106 years).

In the week of December 27, 2021 – January 2, 2022, the positivity rate was 7.53% in a total of 2,650,521 laboratory tests (RT-PCR / Rapid-Ag) and 4.64% in a total of 576,348 self-diagnostic tests. In all tests, the positivity rate was 5.77%.

The admission of new patients was 2,892, while the total number of discharges due to healing was 2,003. The total number of patients aged 4-18 is 31,512, accounting for 16% (-27% from the previous week) of all cases.
