Early snow kicks off ski season sooner than expected (photos)

Two ski slopes at Grevena and Florina are already open to skiers

For the first time ever, the Greek slopes were open to ski buffs as early as October 26. Two snow centers ready for skiers are Vasilitsa at Grevena and Pisoderi in Florina. The centers will be open for as long as the snow remains, with predictions showing that there will be snow during the October 28 public holiday on Tuesday as well as over the coming weekend.

At Pisoderi, snow reached a height of 40 centimeters, 20 centimeters at Vasilitsa, 20 centimeters at Anilio in Metsovo and 5 centimeters at Karpenisi whereas there was also snow at Parnassos and Kalavryta.
