EC: Political deliberations not a substitute for technical negotiations

A clarification prior to the Riga summit

The EC stated that political deliberations to take place in Riga on Thursday will not replace the importance of technical negotiations.

The Latvian capital will host European leaders including EC President Jean-Claude Juncker, European Council president Donald Tusk, European Parliament President Martin Schulz, and others.

The Summit has been characterized as a chance for a political solution, since Alexis Tsipras will be meeting with Angela Merkel. However, the EC does not foretell important decisions to be taken by said political discussions.
