European Central Bank on Thursday further reduced the borrowing limit for Greek banks by 1.0 billion euros, approving a similar request made by the Bank of Greece, as ECB’s board announced.

The ECB’s board reduced the borrowing limit through the Emergency Liquidity Assistance (ELA) mechanism to 86.9 billion euros which applies until Wednesday, 4 November reflecting the improved liquidity in Greek banks.
