ECB President in favor of Greek debt relief

He warns that Greece will return to economic growth only if it implements the structural reforms agreed

The President of the European Central Bank, Mario Draghi, talked to “Kathimerini” on Greek debt, the third memorandum, the recapitalization of the banks, the need for Greece to implement the agreed reforms and a number of other critical issues.

Regarding the Greed debt he said: “We have expressed concerns about current debt sustainability. In our view, there will have to be an element of debt relief.”

He warns that Greece will return to economic growth only if it implements the structural reforms agreed with its creditors and sends a personal message to the Greek people.

“But recently, with enormous determination, the Greek people and the Greek government have re-established political and economic stability. My message is: build on this and do not let a sense of desperation take over again.” he said
