EP President Schulz blasts Tsipras tactics

Schulz disappointed with radical leftist Greek government

European Parliament President Martin Schulz ruled out the possibility of striking an agreement with the SYRIZA government before Sunday’s referendum, according to Die Welt.

“If the Greek government had sent us its proposals two days earlier then there could have been some chance of extending the program”, he stressed. He added that if such a request had been submitted on time the program could have been extended until October.

Speaking to other German media, he expressed his anger and disappointment with Greek PM Alexis Tsipras’ negotiating tactics. The social-democrat leader asked how Tsipras could simply walk away from talks merely because he refused a third bailout package, announcing a snap referendum moments after midnight.
