Erdoğan -Dbeibah meeting: Türkiye and Libya have common interests in the Eastern Mediterranean

The two countries should be in close contact, expressed the Turkish president

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with the head of the Government of National Accord in Tripoli, Abdulhamid Dbeibah, in Ankara.

During the meeting, they discussed energy cooperation between Türkiye and Libya, with President Erdoğan stating that the two countries should remain in close contact to protect their common interests in the Eastern Mediterranean, according to the state broadcaster TRT.

They also discussed the latest developments in Libya, the war in Gaza, and other regional and global issues. President Erdoğan said that relations between Türkiye Libya continue to develop in all areas and that initiating a dialogue process to ensure unity and solidarity in Libya, while protecting the legitimacy of the Government of National Accord, would be beneficial. He added that Türkiye is ready to provide support in this context.

Finally, the Turkish president expressed his appreciation for Libya’s support for the Palestinians and stated that Tripoli’s decision, like Ankara’s, to intervene in the genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice was the right one.
