Facebook paves the way for more books

The Zuckerberg effect: Sales rocketed for Moises Naim’s “The End of Power” after FB CEO endorsed it

Facebook founder Mark Suckerberg wants to get people reading other books apart from Facebook and vowed to read a book every other week in 2015. He created a page called “A Year of Books” and urged his friends to join.

He said:

“We will read a new book every two weeks and discuss it here. Our books will emphasize learning about new cultures, beliefs, histories and technologies. Suggestions for new books to read are always welcome. We ask that everyone who participates read the books and we will moderate the discussions and the group membership to keep us on topic.”

The first book was “The End of Power” by Moises Naim. No sooner was the book announced that it went out of stock making it the book with the biggest gain on the best-seller list.

BOOKS

“It’s a book that explores how the world is shifting to give individual people more power that was traditionally only held by large governments, militaries and other organizations,” wrote Mr. Zuckerberg. “The trend toward giving people more power is one I believe in deeply.”
