Farmers escalate their protest actions by blocking highways, airports and ports

They demand the government to withdraw the draft law on social security system and taxation

Greek farmers decided to escalate their protest actions and proceed to set long-hour blockades at highways, airports and ports.

They also decided to block main roads throughout Greece for 24 hours starting from Saturday 12pm to Saturday 12pm.

Farmers demand the government to withdraw the draft law on social security system and taxation and to meet and discuss with the Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras. They also ask the opposition parties to state their support and not vote for the bills.

The Greek farmers have decided to participate in today’s general strike, therefore the highways, ports and airports will be open so as to facilitate demonstrators to head towards the points where the rallies are scheduled to take place.
