Mystery surrounds the woman’s death

Emergency rescue workers and firefighters searched through parts of northwestern and western Athens on Thursday night to findof  missing people after flash floods in the capital left at least one person dead.

On Saturday morning, Piraeus residents at Frettyda, in the upmarket Castella, came acruss the corpse of an unknown body on the coast at the Paraskeva region. Authorities were immediately alerted whereas the body was taken to Tzanneio hospital so that an autopsy could be carried out so as to ascertain the causes of death.

The husband of the woman missing after floods swept through Kamatero identified the woman, found wrapped in seaweed, as his wife, aged 43. The woman, Eleni Paraskevopoulou, last spoke to her husband at around 10.30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday morning.
