Hellenic Police success in its investigation of the Lygeridis case - Far-right forces are thwarted

Newsroom April 26 01:51

Minister of Justice, Yiorgos Floridis, addressed the investigation into the murder of Yiorgos Lygeridis and discussed the presence of far-right forces in the country. In response to recent events, the Prime Minister convened a ministerial meeting to address concerns about ineffective measures. This led to a plan involving relevant ministers focusing on stadium security enhancements. Yiorgos Floridis emphasised that governmental decisions should not be challenged, drawing from his sports background. He condemned the violence in parliament as emblematic of extreme right-wing ideology, labelling them as promoters of hate. Floridis criticised those who exploit religion for political gain, quoting Archbishop Hieronymus on the essence of Christianity. He denounced Velopoulos’ threats before Easter, calling him a hypocrite and highlighting the political irresponsibility of inciting violence.
