Former finance minister Gikas Hardouvelis of the conservative New Democracy party is the latest in a line of Greek lawmakers being examined by the parliamentary committee responsible for auditing MPs’ wealth declarations. His wealth statement has been refered to Justice for further examination, parliamentary sources said on Tuesday. Source state that Hardouvelis failed to submit a wealth statement for the period when he acted as adviser to former PM Lucas Papademos.
Furthermore, the committee will investigate the wealth statement of Stravros Papastavros, a former adviser of former prime minister Antonis Samaras, as well as those of two active and one former MPs, following specific allegations.
