Govt releases list of what it calls TV stations’ debts

The government on Thursday said it wants 24.1 million euros from national TV stations and 16.6 million from the 2 digital subscribers’ platforms

The government on Thursday published detailed figures on the outstanding debts owed by the companies that own the TV stations broadcasting nationally in Greece, including two digital.

Additionally, the sums owed by the stations to the state were released, in the wake of a proposed “reform” by Athens to collect a whopping 350 million to 380 million euros in television and frequency licenses. It hasn’t been clarified completely how many years of licensing are involved with the latter lofty figures — given that 350 million euros is the total turnover of all stations together!

Figures presented in a chart show the total turnover to the left and the 2-percent licensing fee (per annum) owed to the state.
