Greece floods – Death toll rises to 10

Four people are missing

The death toll from the bad weather Daniel is now 10, the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilias announced on Friday.

Four other people are missing, while rescue operations continue unabated in various parts of the affected areas.

At the same time, as Kikilias stressed, “the situation in the Pinios River keeps us on constant alert. We need great attention from everyone as flooding phenomena can intensify at any moment.”

He added: “In view of related rumours that have been circulating, I want to make it clear that absolutely no intervention by the central government apparatus has been made at any dam in the area that has caused any redirection of the waters. So beware of fake news”.

So far, since the day before yesterday when the massive air and ground rescue and evacuation operation started in the 14 villages, 296 rescues have been made by the helicopters of the Fire Service and the Armed Forces, and note that 150 of these people were in need of immediate medical attention which was provided to them.

According to information, among the villages where the Civil Protection is operating are the following:

Ermitsi Karditsa,

Marathea Karditsa,

Keramidi Trikala,

Orphano Karditsa,

Rizovouni Karditsa,

Kaloritsi,
