Greece plans to promote cultural heritage through thematic destinations

Greece’s thematic destinations will focus on the country’s cultural heritage, natural beauty and monuments

The Greek Tourism Ministry is planning to enrich country’s tourism product by promoting thematic destinations.

Greece’s thematic destinations will focus on the country’s cultural heritage, natural beauty and monuments.

Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni met Stavros Benos, the president of non-governmental and non-profit organization Diazoma, to discuss the necessary actions to be taken in order to support such destinations.

During the meeting, Ms. Kefalogianni said that promoting Greece’s cultural heritage in general is not a technical issue and that it required a comprehensive action plan based on the cooperation between public and private sectors, as well as local communities.

A program on Greece’s thematic destinations is expected to be developed by the Ministries of Tourism, Development, Culture and Environment, whereas the participants of the meeting stressed that Greek regions should involve actively in the implementation of the program.
