Greece’s unemployed get an amnesty for fare dodging

Unemployed fare dodgers given a break

Transport Minister Christos Spirtzis legislated free transport for unemployed people and to give amnesty for public transport fines incurred from July 2, 2010, through to July 2, 2015, provided they can prove that they were unemployed at the time the fine was incurred.

The Organization of Urban Transport (OASA) will no longer collect fines from anyone caught by tkcet inspectors without valid fares as long as they produce official documents showing that they are unemployed.
