Greek gov’t and lenders start the ‘war’ over social security system

The representatives of lenders listened to the alternative plan, but they have not yet taken their final decision

Labour Minister Giorgos Katrougalos met with the representatives of the institutions on Thursday and presented the alternative plan of the Greek government   for the protection of “main pensions”, an issue that the government has drawn up as a red line.

After the meeting, Katrougalos stated that prime minister Alexis Tsipras’ commitment that the pensions will be protected exists “We will protect the pensions and our aim is to proceed to a fair reform of the social security system” he said.

However, he said that the representatives of lenders listened to the alternative plan, but they have not yet taken their final decision on whether to accept or reject it.
