Greek mayors announce collective initiative for local administration

They noted that this is an initiative which rejects the local administration’s embrace with political parties and their goal is to create a strong local administration alliance

Sixty mayors in municipalities across the country, supported by other 55, on announced the launch of a collective initiative aimed at putting an end to the local administration’s “embrace with the political parties”, stressing that their goal is to promote only the real interests of local communities.

In their declaration they stressed that “this movement was formed by a group of mayors representing all cities nationwide who believe in an institutionally strong, operationally independent and financially self-sufficient local administration”.

They also noted that this is an initiative which rejects the local administration’s embrace with political parties and their goal is to create a strong local administration alliance.

It is also mentioned that it is a new independent initiative and has at least a five-year planning. The main priority is to upgrade the local administration institution by upgrading the operation of the local administration’s institutional bodies.
