Heavy snowfall forecast in many regions in Greece

The Hellenic National Meteorological Service (HNMS) issued a severe weather warning

The extreme cold weather that has hit Greece will continue with strong winds in the Aegean until Wednesday (23-03-2022), while the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (HNMS) in a severe weather warning forecasts heavier snowfall in the eastern country on Tuesday (22-03-2022) in the mountainous – semi-mountainous as well as in areas with lower altitudes on the mainland.

The snowfall on Tuesday, although at times it will be dense, will occur at slightly higher altitudes than today.

On Sunday (20-03-2022) and Monday (21-03-2022) snowfalls of moderate to moderate intensity will occur at intervals in Thessaly, Sterea, Evia, and the eastern and central Peloponnese even in areas with low altitude, while it will snow locally heavily in the mountainous – semi-mountainous areas of Crete.

On Tuesday (22-03-2022) the snowfall will gradually intensify before noon hours in Sterea, Evia, Thessaly, the Sporades, central Macedonia (mainly Halkidiki), as well as in eastern Macedonia and Thrace, eastern Peloponnese and Crete, in mountainous – semi-mountainous areas, but possibly in areas with lower altitudes. From noon until the evening, there will be locally heavy rains in the coastal areas in the same regions, as well as in the Cyclades and the Dodecanese.
