High Cost Medicine in private pharmacies

It is being considered by the Health Ministry

The possibility of High Cost Medicine from private pharmacies is being considered again by the Health Ministry.

As stated by the Minister of Health, speaking at a conference of the Association of Patients with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, through e-prescription the conditions are created for putting HCMs in private pharmacies, thus facilitating treatment of Greeks who suffer from serious and/or rare diseases.

Mr. Adonis Georgiadis asked for help from Patient Organizations, scientific societies and doctors to create Patient records which will launch simple procedures regarding patients and specialized medications they may require.

The HCMs are currently available in hospital pharmacies and EOPYY -up to 2011 they were traded by private pharmacists. However, the Health Minister left open the possibility to give some economic incentive for pharmacists, such as a minimum profit rate, in order for them to take it upon themselves to sell the medicine again.
