Highway robbery near Paris – Nine million in jewels, stolen

A veritable Hollywood-style robbery

Nine million euros worth of jewelry was stolen by fifteen armed perpetrators who robbed two armored tracks on a Parisian freeway.

Investigations are underway in order to find the perpetrators. The robbery was carried out near midnight at an A6 freeway (Paris-Lyon) toll station, near Avalon, 200km southeast of the French capital.

However, the most impressive robbery in France is still the one carried out in a Harry Winston jewelry shop in Paris, in 2007. The men had been disguised as painters and managed to get away with 32 million euros. The same men robbed the jewelry store a year later, in a similar way and managed to briefly evade Police with 71 million dollars-worth of jewels. That gang, however, was apprehended, and are on trial right now.
