The nuclear-powered American aircraft supercarrier USS George HW Bush (CVN-77), which is part of the force of the US 6th Fleet, sailed into the port of Piraeus this morning.
The aircraft carrier, which carries 7,000 soldiers, will remain at the port, accompanied by a frigate and a Navy submarine, until Monday, February 6.
USS George Bush is the tenth and final Nimitz-class aircraft supercarrier built in 2009 and named after George Bush Sr., the 41st US president who was a fighter pilot in World War II.
This is the second time in less than three months that this aircraft carrier has docked at a Greek port. The previous one was at the beginning of last October, in the port of Souda.
