Juncker’s mediation attempts between Athens – Berlin

In the background of ongoing negotiations in view of the Eurogroup

Jean-Claude Juncker has been feverishly trying to achieve a settlement between the Greek government and european lenders.

 

According to reports, the EC president is in talks both with Alexis Tsipras and the Greek government as well as with governments of other EU countries, especially Berlin. People aiding Mr. Juncker in his attempts to reconcile European efforts of cooperation with the new Greek government is Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann and Belgian PM Charles Michel.

 

Earlier on Monday, during a press interview, Mr. Juncker advised the Greek PM not to assume that the Eurozone would accept his election campaign promises on reforms.
