Justice Minister Athanassiou asks Lagarde for more information regarding death threats

According to sources, the minister asked Lagarde to give more details that will allow the Greek authorities to investigate the allegations

Justice Minister Haralambos Athanassiou on Tuesday addressed a letter to International Monetary Fund (IMF) chief Christine Lagarde, asking for more information regarding the threats against her life she allegedly received when she spoke about the tax evasion problem in Greece.

According to sources, the minister asked Lagarde to give more details that will allow the Greek authorities to investigate the allegations and initiate legal procedures against those responsible.

It should be noted that the IMF chief made these allegations in a Financial Times interview. More specifically, she told the British newspaper the following: “I better not say too much because, you know, when I have talked about Greece and its taxes before, I got death threats and we had to increase security.”
