In his admission that he is the owner of a company based abroad, proceeded Stefanos Kasselakis, after the revelations of news247.
In a post on X, Mr. Kasselakis reminds that he is a businessman with activity abroad, who lived until recently for 21 years.
However, he wants his lawyers to consult with him on whether he falls under the law on the incompatibilities of political figures, as he is not a member of parliament.
“Everybody knows that I am a businessman with activities abroad, where I lived until recently, for 21 whole years.
I will be immediately informed by my lawyers whether the law applies to parliamentary party leaders, who are not allowed to be owners of foreign companies. I, as is well known, am not a member of parliament. I am not a Member of Parliament,” he said.
However, as he clarifies, if the law concerns him, he will sell the companies he owns abroad, unlike the Syriza people who will never “sell”.
He also took jabs at the owner of news247, whom he accused of trying to buy the party on the cheap.
“As long as the law applies to me, I will sell the companies I own abroad. Only the people of SYRIZA I will never ‘sell’, at any personal financial cost.
This follows a report by the news247.gr website, according to which Mr. Kasselakis is the owner and legal representative of Osios LLC, a company based in the US until at least December 2023.
According to the publication, this fact arises from the loan agreement given at Christmas by a company of Mr. Kasselakis’ interests to the company Left Media S.A., with the aim, as it was made known by sources close to him, to pay the employees of the party media of SYRIZA and to pay them the Christmas gift.

The loan agreement on behalf of Osios LLC was signed by Mr Kasselakis himself, who, as stated in the text, is the sole partner of the company.
The issue raises serious legal and political questions, as the participation of SYRIZA’s president in the management or capital of companies with real or statutory seat abroad is prohibited, according to the legislation brought to the Parliament by Alexis Tsipras in 2016.
In fact, those who violate the law are punished with a minimum of two years in prison and a fine of 10,000 euros to 500,000 euros.
It should be noted that the website news247.gr is critical of Stefanos Kasselakis, supports Alexis Tsipras and in the internal party succession was in favor of Efis Achtsioglou.
